While almost everyone has heard of minisites now if you know anything about Internet marketing, very few people have considered the use of a free and open source CMS or content management system like Mambo or Joomla, which is based on the Mambo code to the production of mini-sites.
What are the advantages of CMS such as Joomla to do quickly and use mini-sites on the Internet?
1. Joomla is easy to use and can be used thousands of free CSS-based models that support the latest standards and has a site within hours, a few days.
2. Joomla wysiwyg easy assembly or what you see is what you need visual editors that let you create and add content to a website as easy as using a word processor on the desktop. This means that your site supports the latest Web 2.0 standards and can grow in the content quickly and easily without redesigning their website from scratch.

4 Ways To Make Sure The Internet Stays Free
Internet access has always been the ultimate in democracy and freedom of speech and choice. You can use virtually any available application, equipment or service to gain access to almost any content.
Bloggers have access to the same potential audience as the New York Times. Artists of all kinds have equal opportunities to find an audience based on their talent and drive; not on money or privilege. Two students in a dorm room with a good idea, a little ingenuity and some skill can create a multi-billion dollar company.
And it gets better since every internet user is pretty much guaranteed access to any site they want, whenever they want it and at the fastest available speed. It doesn’t matter if you log on to Google or eBooks About Everything, the internet access is equal. In other words, the bandwidth available to me as a small business is exactly the same bandwidth available to a huge corporation.
There are always those who are suspicious of freedom. People who want to control a good thing – for profit, for morality or just because they think they can. So it is not surprising that big telephone and cable companies (AT&T, Verizon, Comcast, Time Warner) have set their sites on controlling access to the internet and its content.
These (and other) big companies lobby the Federal Government every day for control of internet access, speed and content. In essence they want to transform the freeway model of networking to a toll road version. They will magnanimously allow the government to collect part of the toll if they can control who gets to use the fast lanes.
But some of us are fighting back. A large number of internet pioneers. industry leaders, bloggers and ordinary citizens believe the internet was created provide equal access and that the access should remain equal. We actually believe that the world does not need one more thing controlled by Government and/or Big Business! And because freedom of speech is still allowed a movement call Net Neutrality has sprung up.
Net Neutrality simply means that internet access will always be free, fast and available. That innovation, not money or politics, will determine who succeeds in the market place of ideas and technology.
To find out more, you can do a simple Google Search on “Net Neutrality” or a scan of Wikipedia. I promise you that you will get more information than you can absorb in one sitting.
I love the fact that the internet is open, free and somewhat “wild”. I suppose it is the last vestige of my 60’s rebel persona. And as a former rebel, nothing makes me sit up and notice faster then when the government (or anyone else) wants to start controlling something.
As we move into election season protecting our freedoms has become an increasingly important agenda for me. I have a few action items:
• I will only vote for candidates who support Net Neutrality.
• I am stepping up my writing/email campaign to my current representatives to tell them that Net Neutrality is vitally important to economic growth and development
• I have joined Save the Net (http://savethenet.org) and Hands off the Internet (http://handsoff.org)
• I will support these organizations with money and time
Please join me in these doing these four simple things. One of the things I have learned over the years is the awesome power of fingers on keyboards. Enough of them pointed at a single target can change the world. That is democracy in action!
4 Ways To Hide Affiliate Link
Affiliate link hijacking is a big problem, some people will change your affiliate URL to their own before purchasing a product so they themselves get paid the commission giving them a discounted product.
This problem is far worse if you are promoting to the affiliate marketers crowd as they can spot an affiliate link from 100 yards away! They will just replace your affiliate ID with their own and “hijack” your commissions.
Some people just simply hate the thought that you will make a commission from their purchase and will just cut off your affiliate ID at the end of the URL. If you don’t take steps to try and hide your affiliate links from hijackers, then you will carry on losing commissions.
Using a redirect php script
This is an easy technique to implement, all you have to do is create a single php file that includes a small piece of code, so if you are trying to promote www-yourID.merchID.hop.clickbank-net then you way create a blank page called, say, http://discounts.php that just contains the redirect script, so the actual link you promote would be www-yoursite-com/discounts.
Unfortunately this technique does have one drawback, some affiliate merchant links will still be visible in the browser address bar, it works great with clickbank products.
Using .htaccess to hide links.
This is works very much the same as the one above except you don’t need to use any scripts, you just need to add a line of code to your .htaccess file.
As with the redirect script above, just create a blank page and upload it to your server, then add the following line of code to your .htaccess file.
Unfortunately this has the same drawbacks as the redirect script method, your affiliate link may still be visible on the merchants site in the browser address bar.
Using a zero-frame to cloak links.
This is the cloaking technique I use most often to hide affiliate links.
Using this method makes it look as if you are sending people to a page on YOUR site, even your URL will be still be visible in the address bar unlike the above cloaking techniques, people will think they are still on your site but they are actually viewing the merchants site.
You simply create a page as mentioned above and insert a few lines of code, I also add a title meta tag to fit the description of the product I’m selling.
However, you MUST test your link before promoting it! This technique can effect the tracking on some sites, so make sure that you will be getting credit for all the traffic you send their way.
How to hide links in a browser.
This technique is used on your website so that when someone hovers over a link, they don’t see the actual destination link in their browser status bar.
So if your actual link was www-affiliateproduct-com/uglyaffiliatelink?123 they would only see http://www.yoursite.com in their browser.
So there you have it, 4 easy ways to hide or cloak your affiliate links, using these techniques will certainly increase your sales and reduce link hijacking.
If you aren’t using any techniques to hide your affiliate links then I can guarantee that you are losing affiliate commissions! You must protect yourself from these hijackers, the harder you make it for people to recognise an affiliate link, the more commission you will make.

Press Releases
Another great way to build links to your website is to submit press releases to the media about your website. You can use press releases to present great information about your site to the online world, and there are many free press release directories to choose from. You can also submit press releases to other press release directories for a small fee as well. This will help to drive more traffic to your site and will also provide you with even more referral links to your site as well.

You can also use RSS feeds as a great way to build links to your site as well. This allows you to have your content on other websites by using an RSS feed. You can have your RSS feeds appear on other sites that relate to your site so you can send targeted traffic to your site. This is also another great way of building links so that your site will rank better on the search engines.
Related Websites
Yet another great way to build links to your site is to get your site linked on another website. This is not also the easiest thing to accomplish, but sometimes you can find sites that are willing to do a link swap with you. A link swap allows you to put up someone else’s link on your site, and in return they will put up your link. This is an excellent way of building links if you can get other website owners to agree to it.
Your ability to build quality links to your site can actually result in the success of your online business. Build a great deal of quality links to your site, and it will improve your search engine rank, which will in turn improve your business.
4 Ways How You Can Be Making Money Blogging Online
The rush to blogging as a way of making an online income is well underway, and if it has worked for thousands of other online entrepreneurs, it can work for you! One of the most appealing things about blogs is that they are so simple to set up that even a child could do it, and many children have.
* Blogs Are NOT Your Normal Marketing Websites
Starting a blog will let you carve out your own small bit of Internet territory, without having to learn any of that confusing .html coding which is essential for building a traditional website.
That in itself is one big reason why blogs are great little income builders. You can set up a dozen blogs in the time it would take you to get a traditional website coded and running. Just head for WordPress and take advantage of their free blog setup.
* Blogs Are Flexible
You can blog about any topic you like, and have as many blogs as you like devoted to a variety of topics, and you can turn each of them into a mini-money earner.
Your bogs can be the equivalent of the soda or snack vending machines which grace so many grocery stores and gas station entryways. None of them by itself will make their owners rich, but collecting the proceeds from a dozen or so on a weekly basis can amount to a very considerable chunk of change.
You just have to be sure that you keep your material as fresh as the vending machine snacks should be kept, if you want your customers to keep coming back.
* Making Money Blogging Online Can Be Done In A Variety Of Ways
What does “monetizing your blogs mean? It means that if you want them to make money like those vending machines, you’ll have to have them selling something besides the content you are providing.
Even the most brilliant bloggers, unless they are being paid for their writing, do not make money from blogging without adding affiliate links, or reselling software and ebooks, or offering their blog to Adsense so that their visitors will, if all goes as planned, click on the AdWords and generate a bit of income with each click.
Adsense is the best approach to making money blogging online if you haven’t become an affiliate, or found any information products to sell. But once you get the knack of blogging and have built a following, you can try using all three.
* One More Thing About Making Money Blogging Online
You can use your blogs to build your mailing lists.
One of the most powerful marketing tools you can possibly have is an opt-in mailing list of people who are genuinely interested in whatever you might be selling, by including a sign-up offer on your blogs – say, a free product like an e-book, you can start creating a mailing list of people who have actually invited you to contact them. How cool is that?
